Let You Go

California based producer VIRTU has released a new single called "Let You Go" and it deserves your listen. Maybe you've come across other VIRTU productions here on the blog earlier, but this single is actually the first with his own lyrics and vocal. Although the track is quite upbeat and energetic, it deals with an emotional topic: the loss of his mother to cancer. "Let You Go" describes the journey of the tragedy, but at the same time beams with hope and positivity, which makes this a very beautiful listening experience.

You can pick up the track as a free download or stream via Spotify (see links below). Enjoy!

Landslide

Just a week after dropping his debut single, Jersey (the British Island) born and bred producer Jordan Burrows releases the follow up called "Landslide" together with producer Glance. With a distinct hip-hop/rnb and pop flavour, this track grooves along like hot butter on frying pan. The smooth instrumental perfectly compliments the soft vocal filtering and sets the mood for autonomous head bobbing. Not only is the music crisp, but also the accompanying music video is an absolute work of art (if you catch my drift). Check out all of it below and enjoy!

Starting Fires

Nick Ditri & Danny Boselovic, better known as the legendary duo Disco Fries, recently dropped their new EP "DF", containing 8 brand new tracks, incl. the singles "Side by Side" & "Is It Over". What's remarkable about this piece of work is the significant development of the Disco Fries sound. However, the EP doesn't just look into the future, it surely also delivers tracks containing that amazing club sound that their fans have come to love over the years. Having already showcased "Side by Side", the track below called "Starting Fires" marks the perfect blend between new and old from Disco Fries. The vocal performance by Daisy Guttridge adds a nice lightness, while the instrumental provides the perfect energy and melodic catchyness that I like. So if you're still not sure what to play this weekend...stream or pick up the new Disco Fries EP which is out now via all major platforms. Party on!

Santiago

Today's track called "Santiago" comes from U.K. based sound engineer MEL (or Mellon) feat. Matti Wilson, who have joined forces to create a light dance tune with earworm appeal. I really enjoy the atmospheric instrumental alongside a sweet vocal performance which feels like a perfect match. MEL has been working with the Xenomania team to produce a bunch of new tunes which you can find on his Soundcloud channel..."Santiago" being one of them. You can listen to these releases and more by clicking the links below. For now, please enjoy this blissful release by hitting the play button and make sure to pick up a free download.

Square One

Torontonian producer Aaron Waisglass, aka Grandtheft, returns with a brand new single called "Square One" featuring MAX. It's been quite a while since his last release, but this one picks up nicely from where he left off and delivers a winter friendly vibe with an on point vocal performance, combining his signature sound with a fresh twist. The heavy bass driven instrumental provides plenty of energy, alongside a trap-inspired beat and an ear-worm worthy melody. Give it a spin and check the link below if you want to pick up a free download.

Nothing Lasts

Straight outta Antwerp comes today's track called "Nothing Lasts" by Taska Black feat. Pauline Herr. It's a somewhat sentimental sounding piece, both lyrically and melodically, but that perfectly fits the title and the deep thumbing bass line that haunts this amazing track. Although the pace feels a tad slow, it's not like there's a deficit in energy...on the contrary. When the drop hits you're in for a treat.

Lemonade

Exciting times for NYC based producer Sean Turk, who has released his first original which he has produced, written and sung on himself. The track is called "Lemonade" and features Jessame. If you are a frequent reader of the blog, you should be familiar with Sean Turk's self-titled genre "bedroom bass", which actually is a pretty darn accurate description of what his music is like. "Lemonade" sticks with some of these bedroom bass attributes, combined with a spicey hint of rnb and pop aswell.

The title almost gives it away, but this track is bursting with summer vibes. So even if your freezing somewhere in Sweden right now (like me), you can listen to this and think of warmer times. Also, if you're a visual person, make sure to check out Sean's ultra dope music video right here below:

Interview: Jared Galley

I am a big fan of a good music videos or festival teasers and/or recap films and the people working on these often do not get the recognition they deserve. Therefore, today's post comes in the form on an interview with Jared Galley - Videographer, Director & Partner at Ajax Visuals. Being a bit of a hobby photographer myself, I was curious to learn more about some of the challenges he would be dealing with when working in often crowded, dark and loud locations. Maybe if you are an aspiring videographer yourself, there might be a thing or two in here that you could learn from this interview. Hope you enjoy!

As a videographer at shows and festivals, what are some of the biggest challenges you face in order to capture the vibe and story you want to tell? I assume it must be particularly tricky to get good shots at night and find a balance between complete darkness and very bright light sources like lasers and flashing lights…?

Shooting at night for sure has its difficulties but is a fun challenge to take on. There's more lighting to play around with and makes for a more chaotic feel with the flashing lights/lasers but this also adds a different flavor compared to day shoots. But some of the biggest challenges I face are the crowds. Sometimes they're great; screaming, dancing, and interacting with the camera - but sometimes they're stiff as a board and I'll literally have to go up to people and ask them to dance for the camera. Another problem I face is creating a unique story for every experience. I don't like just simply capturing the moment, I prefer creating meaning and telling a "story" with each video. I think the days of simply making a cool edit with a couple of zoom transitions and spins are slowly drifting away - the audience wants more depth and texture. I'm still trying to figure out how I can tackle the project in a unique way - I want the event to tell a story, not just documented.

Does the crowd love the camera or do they hate it when you stick a lens up in their faces?

I feel there's a love/hate relationship with how the crowd reacts to a lens in their face. Many times they'll dance, laugh and stick their face right in the camera but often they'll also hide from it or just ignore it - everyone has a different reaction. I've had a fair share of unique experiences from a girl kissing the lens leaving a nice fat lipstick mark on it to a guy attempting to grab it and running off (both situations that I was not a fan of). Nevertheless most encounters are funny and a lot of people just want to be in that next aftermovie to show their friends.

What has been the most fun or exciting promo, show or festival you have covered and what made it special?

I think shooting at Veld Music Festival with Dzeko & Tiesto was the coolest experience to date, the crowd was insane and being able to work with a huge stage production including co2, confetti, and pyro was such a treat as videographer - it's so much to play around with in post.

Et opslag delt af Jared Galley 🇨🇦 (@jared_galley) den

How do you find inspiration and creativity to come up with new ideas for shoots?

Many times it depends on the city/location of the shoot and what kind of stage I'm working with. I always get so inspired by our environment and the ambiance of the different locations. Many times I'll show up to an event with a completely different initial vision, but as soon as I get there I get hit with new inspiration and ideas from what surrounds me. The different shots and angles start to appear in my mind and I just start to recreate what I envision. I think of what the shots would look like in an edit and then I begin to execute.

What type of gear would I find in your backpack and in particular, how much storage do you have to carry around when you’re out in the field to make sure you can capture all you want?

You'll find me running around with a Sony A7sII, Sigma 35mm & 20mm prime lenses, Canon 24 to 70mm, and my beat up Glidecam Hd-2000. Storage wise - I'm looking at about 20 to 50 GB of footage for a single day shoot so I use a 64GB SanDisk SD card.

Tangible

West coast resident Ken Loi is back after his well deserved maternity leave with this amazing new single called "Tangible" feat. Sü. The sound on this track is a development of Ken Loi's sound which blends subtle dance vibes with emotional melodies and beautiful vocals. Speaking of vocal, Sü's voice is absolutely stunning and in the mix the lightness she brings perfectly balances out the bass. Notice how the instrumental vibe is somewhat cold, dark and mysterious, but how the vocal really brings some incredible warmth. It's difficult to describe what music does to you, but just give the track a listen yourself and you'll see :) "Tangible" is out now via Kaskade's label Arkade and you can stream it via most major platforms (see link below). Good Thing (Thifu Remix)

Today's pick comes from Pakistan. A producer going by the name of Thifu has crafted a remix for Tritonal's "Good Thing" feat. Laurell. He calls his style "Easthit"...while I am not quite sure what that means, I do know that it kicks some ass. Listening to the energy filled drop on this remix gives me goosebumps and it fits really well with the original vibe and of course the amazing vocal by Laurell. Otherwise, little is known about Thifu, but let's hope he keeps those spicy tunes coming. Feel free to press the play button below...it's the only place you can enjoy this remix anyway as it's not an official remix release.

Deck The Halls

Just a few weeks ago, nobody would have seen this coming. Now it's a reality and Christmas has officially been OutWham'ed by non-other than Kaskade, who has been busy crafting a full Christmas album, bringing you 13 new tracks in a mix of fresh interpretations of classic Christmas songs, but also a couple of true originals. The piece I have picked out from the album is the timeless "Deck The Halls" feat. Erika, which I think truly marks the flavour of the album. Other honorable mentions are "O Come Emmanuel" feat. Skylar Grey, who manages to sprinkle angel dust over this church-heavy melody and "God Rest Ye" feat. Debra Fotheringham, which samples Hall & Oates' "Sara Smile".

It's not the first time Kaskade does Christmas songs, having previously released remixes of Bing Crosby's "White Christmas" and Frank Sinatra's "Mistletoe and Holly". Kaskade being a devout Mormon, it all fits perfectly together that most of the tracks are in the spirit of the origins of Christmas. Personally, I love Christmas music (old and new), but I've grown tired lately of hearing the same over and over again every single year. With this album, I can now satisfyingly sit back, relax and enjoy something new. Thanks Kaskade!

The track is called “You Found Me” featuring Victor Perry and if you’re familiar with Saxity’s music, you know that they are all about bringing good vibes to their fans and listeners. Oasis (Barkley x Kyco Remix)

So now that it is officially weekend and some of you probably need to sweat out some Thanksgiving  calories 🦃🦃🦃, here's a cool new dance tune to help you do so!

One of my favourite The Him tracks of the year, "Oasis", has received an exciting and energy filled remix by Barkley & Kyco, transforming this future bass/pop marble into a proper bass loaded house track. The remix starts out with some classy piano chords, which are quickly exchanged with a sweet club bassline that adds some serious oomph. Despite the added club factor, Barkley & Kyco's version still pays respect to the original production, allowing the vocal by Sorana to shine in all the right places.

Out now on Daily Deep, you can pick up this epic new remix via most major platforms (see links below). Enjoy!

Forever

Torontonian band HONORS are bringing you some spicy beats with their brand new release called "Forever". It's the first time that I hear a piece of their music, but I am instantly hooked. HONORS already experienced their first major success this year with a single called "Over" and this new one feels like it can easily carry on the momentum.

I love the melody on "Forever", as well as the atmospheric vibe and haunting vocal which sweeps blissfully over the track. This is a piece where you just want the music to speak its own language...sit back with a good pair of headphones and enjoy. You can also check out the live version in the Youtube player below, showing you what to expect at their shows.

In the midst of being on tour together with Kill The Noise and Seven Lions, Chad Cisneros and David Reed aka Tritonal have released a new single called "Call Me". This year has been a productive one for the duo, having already dropped a number of originals like "Strangers", "Wild Kind", "Good Thing" and more... "Call Me" is a blissful pop/dance hybrid with radio appeal, perfect for easy listening or as a mild dance tune. The feel good vibes are all over this one thanks to a sweet melody and an even sweeter vocal performance. Give the track a spin and check the link below for all possible streaming options. Enjoy!

Twilight vs. Breathe

Ok...this should have you excited! Adam K & Soha, the forces behind legendary remixes like Kaskade's "4AM" and Ercola & Heikki L's "Deep At Night" are back with a mashup of their big hit "Twilight", merged with the vocals from Adam K & Slander's "Breathe" featuring Matthew Steeper & HALIENE. What can you expect? A bit of a retro kick to be honest, but it's exactly what I love about this piece. It brings back memories to an era where house music was just starting to form into the now overly abused term "EDM" and when trance really peaked as a genre. Nostalgia aside, Twilight vs. Breathe is a match meant to be and that's why it's the pick of the day! Give it a spin right here or check out links below for alternative options.

Restless Sea

I love the direction Louis Futon has been going with his music during 2017. This has again been proved with the release of his latest single called "Restless Sea" feat. Opia. The style of this track is a sweet melting pot of both his own style and that of Opia. The guitar parts are particularly outstanding, providing the track with its identity and adding some sweet contrast to the vocal performance. Production wise "Restless Sea" is A+, delivering crisp sound all around the spectrum and leaving room in the arrangement for both emotion and energy.

Be Yourself

Kazy Lambist doesn't sound like a French name, but France is where he's from. Straight outta Montpellier, the young artist has been around only for a short while, but already impresses with his unique sound and style, which in some ways remind me a bit of Norwegian band Donkeyboy, but with a distinct French house influence. The general vibe radiates a laidback club attitude which suits the vocal filter perfectly and makes for a pleasing listening experience in combination with the instrumental. Prima

I'm hungry for bass...so to fullfill my needs, here's the bassiest track that I could find. This one is called "Prima" by LA based Ivan Radin aka Commandr. Yes... "Prima" has been out for nearly half a year, but holy schmoley it hits hard. Not only does it have the sound I was looking for, it also has an ultra catchy bassline which easily gets stuck on your mind and makes you loose sense of time and place for a while. Certainly, this also means it's not a track for everyone...you need to be in the mood for it...the mood for dark, deep and heavy bass. Pierce Fulton made a thing...that's how he usually puts it himself. Prepping for his upcoming US tour running starting today until December 16, Pierce has released a track called "Can't Judge", which is essentially a remix of Bo Diddley's "You Can't Change A Book By The Cover". It's a bit of an uncoventional track, but at the same time it's fun and radiates good vibes, paying homage to one of Keith Richards' influences, as mentioned in the book "Life".

It's just been a month since the previous single release from The Him, but now the duo is back with a brand new one called "Always". Jeroen and Steven as it turns out are machines...they simply must be...with the rate of productivity, consistency, quality and awesomeness they drop new music...However if they were machines, their music would be boring, repetitive and trivial, but it's far from that. "Always" is filled with beautiful emotional triggers, sweet melodies, interesting sounds and most importantly a unique identity which you can associate with The Him...just the way it should be!

After pressing play, you're met with some awesome acoustic guitar that drives its way through the track like a boss. Cross Your Mind (Jenaux Remix)

Jenaux recently released his take on Wingtip's "Cross Your Mind". Going with a chillout vibe with funky elements, the NYC based producer goes in a different, but very refreshing downtempo direction with this track. Particularly the chorus/drop has a very sweet sound, playing with the tracks brass parts to create a cool effect. The smoothness factor on this one breaks the scale, but that's exactly what I need mid-week. Hope you enjoy this one just as much as I do!

German DJ and producer Kyco has teamed up with UNiViCE for an energetic spin on Two Friends' "Pacific Coast Highway" feat. Max. City Lights

Let's take a trip to Austria, visiting the duo Palastic to check out their new single "City Lights" feat. Nevve. I love the soft electro dance vibe on this track, making it ideal for easy listening and worthy of the title "City Lights". The melody is catchy, but not boring and the arrangement, sound design and vocal performance deliver a great listening experience. Speaking of vocal, Nevve's name shouldn't be all new to you, having been featured on works by Elephante (news on him soon) and Illenium. With a dark and almost haunting vibe, they make this the perfect soundtrack to head into the cold November month (well...depending on where you are in the world). Despite the familiar vocals, the instrumental is naturally experimental, as only DROELOE can do it. This makes for a fresh and cool take on a well-known song, filled with some awesome deep and growling bass! Give the remix a spin below and enjoy!

Kids (Two Friends Remix) & (Codeko Remix)

It's all about "Kids" today :) U.S. based Two Friends & U.K. based Codeko have both dropped some absolutely amazing remixes for this classic childhood memory. "Kids" was part of MGMT's "Oracular Spectacular" album and came out almost exactly 10 years ago (yep, you may feel old now). Both Two Friends and Codeko have taken a trappy approach, but the end result on the two tracks are very different. This is what remixing is all about though and it shows the greatness of diversity in music. Which remix do you like the most? Give both of them a spin right here below:

Everest

Dutch band Klangstof are the ones behind this amazing, dreamy single called "Everest" from the same named EP. Somewhat similar to yesterday's track from Blondage, Klangstof's sound is based around an experimental vibe which blends various genres and melodic elements into something truly unique. Listening to "Everest" is more of an experience than just "listening to a piece of music". If you're a person who likes dissect and analyse a track, while still enjoying audible bliss, then this should definitely be on your watchlist.

Call It Off

Yoooo! Home-town peeepz :D Copenhagen based Blondage have dropped a new single called "Call It Off". If you're new to the duo, this track is a pretty on point teaser as to what their all about. Their experimental neo-dance/future-pop style is unlike anything you've heard before. It's catchy, but it's not predictable. Having just played a couple of shows throughout Denmark, you can catch them for their show in London on November 3rd @Hoxton Bar & Kitchen.

Boyfriend

Jerry Folk just delivered...the dopest spin on any JB track ever. To be honest, it's very difficult to associate this with The Biebz at all, because the sound is so different on this track. Having released this on his Jerry Folk II channel on Soundcloud, it becomes clear that this was meant as an experiment and a fun detour from this usual style. It's dope when artists do that, challenging themselves creatively and helping their fans discover new things too. Kudos to you Jerry!

Jerry Folk's take on "Boyfriend" is available as a free download, so make sure you pick a copy from the link below:

Without You (Disco Fries Remix)

You've heard Avicii's comeback single again and again on the radio, on Spotify, at the party, in the elevator, on the toilet?!...anywhere basically! However, you haven't heard it just like this! Disco Fries put the Disco back in Fries and deliver a funky fresh remix for "Without You" that will inevitably leave you with a big fat smile on your face when you start listening. It's a happy sounding remix and it transforms Avicii's cookie cutter sound profile in the best way possible. Disco Fries always like to experiment and I love that. For this one...think of early days of The Fat Rat...maybe some of you will recognise what I mean :) Out now and available as free download, you can pick up a copy via the link below:

Bones

My favourite Jack from London, jackLNDN, is back with a new single called "Bones". While delivering some smooth melodic deep house vibes on the instrumental, an unknown lady provides a sweet vocal performance to match. With every new release, jackLNDN just seems to get better and better, making "Bones" one of my absolute favourites of his to date. So make sure you keep an eye on this guy!

Out now on Deux Trois, you can pick up his new single via the major platforms via the link below. Enjoy!
